Through her riches, Betsy DeVos has had a disproportionate influence on national and state policies affecting millions of Americans, helping to force through changes to the law that gut the rights of workers and redirect American tax dollars to fund risky charter school experiments that have repeatedly failed for America’s children.
She has also applauded efforts to gut election laws that are designed to prevent corruption, recasting the issue of money in politics as free speech and her right to speak “as loudly as we please.” (Her remarks about this and her praise for Tom DeLay’s “honesty” begin at the 52-minute mark here.)
Here are five facts to get smart about who Betsy DeVos is and what her nomination could mean for America.
1. Betsy DeVos Refused to Send Her Children to Public Schools in Grand Rapids, Michigan.Betsy and her husband Dick DeVos, Jr., have four children they raised in the prosperous town of Ada, Michigan, which is the headquarters of AmWay, the multi-level marketing company that made the DeVos family billionaires. She is also an heir to the Prince Corporation fortune from sun visors and other car parts.
Construction continues (even through the winter!) on the Acrisure Amphitheater here in downtown Grand Rapids. Good to see my Amway kit profits from the 60s going for all the great things in Grand Rapids..keep up the good work.
Yeah, great..what we needed to do was to take care of WHAT we have now…our priorities are so messed up..parking remains a problem. Our places of interest are falling apart…when’s the last time you went to the fish ladder? Or should I say a dumping ground…yeah, let’s bring back the GRAND in Grand Rapids…
God bless, The men and women from West Michigan with great forethought. Thank you to all the construction workers who worked in the bitter cold.
So great to see it all coming together!
Can’t wait for this to open!!!
fun to see it come together ππ»
Where is everyone parking? This side of town is a disaster as it sits. What about the wealthy exit ramp/on/off? Traffic is going to be impossible
Thanks Mr. Devos for making G.R. Great!

I hope you planned to heat the seats!
Parking?
Looking forward to the performance schedule ... πΈποΈπΉπ·πͺ
I hope my taxes are not paying for this
God bless you
I’m concerned about rainy days .. why didn’t we do a design that ensures rain won’t cause cancellations ?
Old picture. I drive by almost everyday. Deliver there every so often.
And the roads continue to get worse and worse. Seward ave has 8 inch deep potholes
How about parking? The city should have created more parking before thinking about another stadium, and the voters are stupid for voting for another tax to pay for this stuff!
Ooooo a logistical parking and traffic nightmare in the making.Onsite parking of only 650 spaces and what will be an enormous log jam for the flow of vehicles between the arena, highway entrance and exit, this open air turd and the small two lane roads. That's just for starters.
Total waste of money.
When it’s done, few bands will play there, and even fewer people will be able to afford to buy tickets for there.
Another masonic symbol?
Looking at that picture, my first thought was, Grand Rapids is getting a microwave length radio telescope? Oh, just another concert venue. Nice. You know the local observatory was all privately funded, right? It's very nice, too. The best thing about radio telescopes is that Michigan's notoriously bad weather won't bother it much...
