When hundreds of West Michigan business leaders raised their hands Monday, admitting they’ve traveled to Chicago or Detroit to catch a flight, Dick DeVos nudged them to “think again.”
DeVos, the founder and chairman of the Regional Air Alliance of West Michigan, praised the Gerald R. Ford International Airport and its recent strides to lower the cost of flying in and out of the region during his presentation to The Economic Club of Grand Rapids.

Grand Valley State University’s Peter F. Secchia Breakfast Lecture offered Grand Rapids native Dick DeVos a chance to tell hundreds of people why he thinks West Michigan is special.

“I started making a list, and I realized that there were too many things that were unique and interesting that I couldn’t combine or distill all of them,” DeVos said Tuesday.
